Sean Wheelock welcomes Not So Fast personality Tim Owens to the podcast to talk about the future of Let’s Get It On, after the departure of Big John McCarthy from the show. While Wheelock is not ready to reveal who will join him on the show next, he does admit there will be two new hosts. Wheelock says the future hosts are “active fighters, and they are two of the biggest names and biggest personalities in MMA.” He goes on to reassure fans of the podcast that they intend to keep the tone of the show the same.
The hosts address the rumor that the UFC could be sold for upwards of $4 billion. Owens ponders if Zuffa, the majority owner of UFC, ever considered that the league could be worth $4 billion. Owens also points out, “When there’s smoke, there’s fire” in these kinds of deals, and “there have definitely been conversations” among leaders in the UFC.
Wheelock gives his good friend and creator of UFC Art Davie credit for his attitude towards UFC, even years after he sold the majority ownership rights. “Art is never bitter about the fact that an idea in his head in 1989 turned into something that could sell for a reported $4 billion. It’s like you give your kid up for adoption, and your kid goes on to be president.” According to Wheelock, “there is no bitterness there, it’s all good feelings.”
